A pick of the best homes with star quality

If you’re fortunate enough to own a home that has featured on the silver screen, then you’ll know that it can sometimes prove useful as a source of extra income.

In the most high-profile examples the property becomes almost as well known as the film itself (last year our Henley-on-Thames office had the pleasure of completing the sale of Cobstone Mill in Buckinghamshire – the famous windmill that features in the 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang).

Occasionally, however, it is the former owners of the property we sell that draws attention. Of course, sometimes there is a need to be discreet and we always work closely with our clients to ensure the PR and marketing approach aligns with individual circumstances.

While having a famous link doesn’t necessarily add to the value of a property, it can often prove an interesting topic of conversation for potential buyers and help generate extra interest.

By their very nature such properties also tend to be eye-catching and well located – in picturesque settings, close to key transport links or home to impressive leisure facilities, for example – which adds to their appeal.

From the former Oxfordshire home of actor Sir Michael Caine through to Sir Sean Connery’s James Bond-style villa on the French Riviera – featured below is a selection of homes with star quality.
