Savills recognised for ongoing commitment to social mobility

Savills has been featured in the Social Mobility List 2026 – recognising the company’s commitment to breaking down barriers and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed whatever their background.

The publication has also named Sarah Thorley – associate director in the Savills Social Value team and co-chair of the Savills Social Mobility Group – as a D&I ‘rising star’.

The Social Mobility List is compiled by social mobility charity Making the Leap and recognises individuals and organisations driving change throughout the UK.

Savills has been included as one of the top organisations for ‘Leadership’ – recognising its work designing and delivering specialist rehabilitation initiatives for ex-offenders at HMP Mount.

Working in collaboration with its M&E service partners, Savills ran targeted engineering training that covered essential modules including Legionella awareness, electrical safety, FCU maintenance and HVAC systems.

The report reads: “Participants gained practical, industry-relevant knowledge and, crucially, were guaranteed job interviews upon release. This significantly improved their employment prospects and supported a smoother transition back into the community.

“The initiative is a strong example of social mobility in action, directly addressing the barriers ex-offenders encounter when trying to secure meaningful work.”

Savills Social Mobility Group co-chair Sarah Thorley has also been included in the Social Mobility List as a 'recognised voice' in the D&I space.

“Her leadership is grounded in lived experience; growing up in a social mobility ‘cold spot’, she was in the first generation of her family to attend university,” the report says.

“Sarah is now actively shaping Savills D&I strategy, supporting the Social Mobility Network, managing strategic partnerships, and influencing internal policy and culture.

“She has built a strong cross-functional volunteer team, established new outreach and development initiatives, and raised internal and external awareness. Her work is aligned with the firm’s D&I strategy and broader industry change. With 10% of her working time dedicated to this area, Sarah leads with authenticity, clarity, and passion.”

Commenting on the inclusion, Sarah said: “Making the Leap is an incredible charity – and for Savills to be included in its annual list really reflects the commitment and hard work of so many people across the business.

"On a personal level, I feel genuinely proud and grateful to be recognised alongside inspiring individuals who are making such a positive difference in their sectors.

"At Savills we champion social mobility by opening doors, creating opportunity, and helping people to thrive in their careers.”
